The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), also known as the Global Goals, were adopted by all United Nations Member States in 2015 as a universal call to action to end poverty, protect the planet and ensure that all people enjoy peace and prosperity by 2030.
The 17 SDGs are integrated—that is, they recognize that action in one area will affect outcomes in others, and that development must balance social, economic and environmental sustainability.
We at the IUPUI Arts & Humanities Institute recognize that achieving these goals requires the close collaboration of scientists, social scientists, humanists, artists, and communities.

The New Humanities Lab at the IUPUI Arts & Humanities Institute (IAHI) supports high-impact learning in the humanities at IUPUI by embedding students in team-based, community engaged research projects.
Art+Ethics Seminar
The IAHI Art+Ethics Seminar Series examines the role of art in contemporary life. Free and open to the public, the seminar discusses the intersection between ethical theory and artistic practice. Seminar meetings discuss the intersections of ethics, public art, and urban design through shared readings, guest speakers, and conversation.
Environmental Justice Seminar
The IUPUI Arts & Humanities Institute and the Kheprw Institute co-host critical conversations about climate change, pollution, and social justice.
Religion, Spirituality, and the Arts
The Religion, Spirituality, and the Arts (RSA) brings together artists, religious leaders, religious communities, humanities experts, and a broad range of publics from diverse backgrounds and disciplinary perspectives for sustained study, analysis, and discussion of religious texts in a classroom environment. The 2019-2023 theme focuses on the intersection of religion and environmental thought and practice.
